Construction of a two storey reinforced concrete medical centre |
| |
|
The project involved construction of a two storey reinforced concrete structure which although attached to the existing hospital is designed to operate as a stand alone facility specifically designed for the treatment of cancer patients.
The ground floor includes:
Consulting rooms, lift, CT imaging engineering, linear accelerator, controlling stations, specialised work rooms and features twin bunkers where radiotherapy treatment is carried out. The first floor is fitted with offices and a large plant room to service the facility.
Limited site access was a major impediment which necessitated constant planning and replanning as construction sequence was severely restricted. The immediate site boundaries included a 3 storey building on 1 side and a 4 metre heritage listed brick fence on two others. |
