A multi staged restoration and refurbishment of the Town Hall |
| |
|
The City of Greater Bendigo has undertaken a multi staged restoration and refurbishment of the Town Hall over several years. The most difficult and extensive stage was left to last and incorporated the total refurbishment of the Eastern end of the building. This area was principally used for Administration and minor functions. Over many years major alterations had been carried out and the original fabric and design of the building had been "butchered" to put it kindly. The refurbishment was carried out on 3 levels.
The restoration featured the installation of a new kitchen, reconstruction of the first floor function room, new light well, fitout of the ground floor into offices, electrical and mechanical works and external bluestone paving.
The project was a challenge from start to finish with initial demolition uncovering many unknown engineering issues which had to be solved. |
